Wednesday Inspo: Summer Weekends

There's nothing I love more than a weekend spent with friends in the summer months.  Whether you stay at home or travel somewhere fantastic, it's always nice to gather around a table and chat late into the night after a day spent exploring new places.

This Wednesday, I'm drawing inspiration from some of my favorite destinations: the Pennsylvania Countryside where I grew up, Nantucket, and Maine.  What are your favorite summer destinations? I'd love to hear more in the comments!

Pennsylvania

I grew up between Philadelphia and Wilmington, Delaware and I'll take any excuse I can to go home.  I just came back from spending Memorial Day weekend there and I love that all of my favorite flowers are in bloom.  A trip to that area isn't complete without a visit to Longwood Gardens, the Brandywine River Museum (PS- I interned in their curatorial department when I was 17), and Styer's Peony Festival.  This part of the state is pretty casual during the day but a bit fancier for dinner.  I'd wear some stud earrings like these for daytime activities and a statement pair with a sundress at night.

Nantucket

I also grew up spending summers at my grandmother's house on Nantucket.  It's my absolute favorite place in the world and my hydrangea hoops were inspired by summers spent there.  As an Island, a cute cover up, great swimsuit, barely there earrings, and a fun hat are essentials for a day at the beach.  At night, the island gets a bit dressier (and cooler).  If you skip the beach and go into town, I'd wear something like this striped t-shirt dress with the sleeves pushed up above my elbows, a stack of gold bangles or a really fantastic bracelet like this one, big sunglasses, a straw tote, and flat sandals (there are cobblestones).  Some of my favorite local spots on island are Jetties Sandbar, the Juice Bar for ice cream, Slip 14, and Something Natural for sandwiches.

Maine

One of my absolute best friends spends her summers in the middle of nowhere in costal Maine.  We spend our days there exploring the woods or on a boat on the water.  At night, we dress up, help cook a delicious dinner, and sit around a table and chat all night with fantastic tunes playing in the background.  I'd throw on a chic sundress with some statement earrings.  And don't forget a sweater or wrap, it gets very cold at night.
